Hammerstein is a burly and welcoming camp about 70km on the Lüderitz side of Sesriem. It is a popular stop for big groups and independent travellers going between Swakopmund and the south by way of Sossusvlei.

Accommodation options include camping, self-catering or dinner, bed and breakfast. The rooms are Spartan in their neatness and all have en suite bathrooms and twin beds.

At the main lodge is an inviting combination of swimming pool, buffet restaurant, bar and coffee shop.

The caves and piles of boulders that form massive outcrops are scribbled with ancient rock paintings. Hammerstein Lodge and Camp offers guided tours of the area as well as scenic evening drives that culminate in a toast to the fantastic sunset.
