Ongava Tented Camp
Ongava Tented Camp is an intimate safari lodge in a private reserve adjacent to Etosha National Park; the camp's en suite tented rooms face a floodlit waterhole.
Ongava Tented Camp offers well-appointed safari accommodation with a light footprint in the exclusive 30,000ha Ongava Reserve. Built with minimal impact on the land, Ongava Tented Camp fronts a busy waterhole and ranks among Namibia's best safari lodges.
The camp has seven tented suites and one family unit. The suites are built on wooden decks with doorway entrances, en suite bathrooms, open-air showers and private verandas looking out into the great African wilderness.
The main lodge is a homely thatch, timber and stone construction that houses the lounge, dining area, bar, large open veranda and shaded plunge pool. The untended bush encroaching into the camp gives it an earthy, rustic back-to-nature appeal.
Fully inclusive accommodation; large walk-in tents and a family unit; en suite thatched bathroom; open-air shower; overhead fans; private verandah; indoor and outdoor dining overlooking a waterhole; bar; curio shop; reference library; plunge pool; laundry; airstrip.
Overlooking a floodlit waterhole; game drives into Etosha; guided walks and safaris in the private Ongava Reserve, which has game-viewing hides and waterholes; black and white rhino tracking.
In Ongava Reserve, which is situated on the southern edge of Etosha National Park, there are good numbers of lion, eland, Hartmann's mountain zebra, the endemic black-faced impala and other antelope – in fact, the only animal you won't see is elephant but there are plenty of those in Etosha. A highlight of the private reserve is a walking safari in which you track both black and white rhino – with an armed ranger of course.
Activities include game drives into Etosha and walks and safaris in the private reserve, which also has several game-viewing hides and waterholes.
