Etosha Aoba Lodge
Price: From US$166 (Our pricing)
Location: Etosha National Park, Namibia
Accommodation Description
The living area at this comfortable and eco-friendly lodge is little more than a thatched roof on gnarled poles. Nature is all around and the tamboti and terminalia trees that line the dry riverbed provide excellent cover from the sun; they are also home to many birds and little furry urchins of the wild.
Ten stone and thatch cottages are dotted along the river and barely visible through the trees. The decorators had tranquillity in mind when they provided each with an elegant simplicity that pays homage to a good night's rest and an invigorating shower.
Facilities
Thatched en suite cottages; private verandah; maximum 20 guests; library; open dining area; bar; plunge pool
Activities
Evening game drives; birdwatching; waterhole hides; Etosha and Bushman Foundation excursions
The lodge is the only one inside the 7,000-hectare Fischer's Pan Private Game Reserve, which is on the eastern edge of Etosha National Park. Game viewing, bird watching and sundowner drives - all at the hands of your knowledgeable and passionate host, George, are a fascinating and rewarding experience. Leopard, hyena, jackals and frequent visits by lions from neighbouring Etosha; the reserve is building a healthy stock of plains game including eland, black-faced impala, zebra, giraffe, red hartebeest, kudu and a flurry of smaller creatures.
Outside the reserve, you can go on excursions into Etosha, which is only about 20 minutes away, and to the Ombili Bushman foundation.
