At Eagle Tented Lodge and Spa, they won't force you to pronounce the name of those mountains but they will force you to relax, unwind and enjoy the wilderness of a 21,000-hectare private reserve adjacent to Etosha National Park.

Each of the eight tented suites is built on a raised deck with its own plunge pool, mini bar and en suite bathroom. With at least 40 metres and a thicket of Acacias between you and your nearest neighbour, you might think you're the only guests.

The main lodge has turret-like archways that invite the cooling breeze and the spectacular view indoors; the pool is hewn out of natural rock - like the rest of the lodge - and is as inviting as a hot, buttered scone with cream and jam at teatime.

And you will eat. Meals are prepared with fresh, local ingredients and served in a variety of idyllic settings: in your private suite, in the semi-open dining room, outdoors beneath a clear Namibian sky.

Game viewing tops the list of activities and you have the choice of staying in Epacha, which has 21 indigenous antelope including sable and the endangered black rhino, or visiting Etosha, which has a all of Africa's famous game.
