Accommodation Description
The soft interiors make a striking statement against the bold backdrop of the Klip River Valley; Grootberg Lodge stands on the edge of the Grootberg Plateau in the heart of Damaraland half way between Etosha and the Skeleton Coast.
Eleven stone and thatch suites rise from the scrub like organic watch towers, commanding a view across the valley. And inside is all soft fabrics, cool whites and solid teak furniture. The main living area is a long embrace of that same view and features a comfortable lounge area and a wide verandah with Morris chairs.
In a landmark development, 12,000 hectares were proclaimed for conservation by the the #Khoadi//Hoas (ask Simonetta how to pronoune that) community for conservation and tourism and Grootberg Lodge is owned by the people of this region.
