Accommodation Description

Eleven stone and thatch suites rise from the scrub like organic watch towers, commanding a view across the valley. And inside is all soft fabrics, cool whites and solid teak furniture. The main living area is a long embrace of that same view and features a comfortable lounge area and a wide verandah with Morris chairs.

In a landmark development, 12,000 hectares were proclaimed for conservation by the the #Khoadi//Hoas (ask Simonetta how to pronoune that) community for conservation and tourism and Grootberg Lodge is owned by the people of this region.

Desert-adapted elephant, black rhino and elusive lion are some of the more impressive mammals in the reserve. Your personal guide will take you on drives and walks, pointing out Damaraland's numerous endemics and interesting species of birds, plants and animals.
