Accommodation Description

Chobe Savanna Lodge is on the Namibian side of the Chobe River facing the Chobe National Park in Botswana. It's a confusing confluence of river and country but it doesn't bother the vast herds of elephant that call this succulent piece of land home.

Chobe Savanna Lodge is on the Namibian side of the Chobe River facing the Chobe National Park in Botswana. It's a confusing confluence of river and country but it doesn't bother the vast herds of elephant that call this succulent land their home.

Twelve thatched chalets line the river at Chobe Savanna Lodge and the view from your private balcony is a pure African wilderness of dense mahogany, teak and mangosteen thickets, illala palms and open grasslands beyond the wide river. Each room is en suite with air conditioning, ceiling fans, mini bars and alluring drapes over the beds (that double as mosquito nets, so they're quite handy).

Built from solid teak and locally sourced thatch, Chobe Savanna Lodge has a large open-sided lounge and bar area and plenty of relaxation options: pool with sun-loungers, deck with Morris chairs and a fireplace surrounded by deep sofas for cosy winter nights.

The Chobe River is famous for large herds of elephant as well as rare species of antelope, lion, wild dog, a high concentration of plains game and prolific year-round birdlife.

Activities

Safari activities at Chobe Savanna Lodge focus on the river with motorboat safaris, game walks, canoeing, fishing and sunset cruises. Game drives into Chobe National Park are an optional extra with the timing and frequency entirely up to you - a radical break from safari traditions.

Chobe Safari Lodge also has an active community-engagement programme to sustain the conservation of the natural habitat and the wildlife heritage. Organised tours of the participating schools and villages in the area offer a grassroots take on sustainable tourism and conservation.
