Chobe Bush Lodge
If you need a comfortable, good value compromise between staying at an exclusive safari lodge inside the game reserve and spending a pricey night or two in Victoria Falls, then Chobe Bush Lodge is a good option.
Safari-style hotel or hotel-style safari lodge? It’s hard to tell but either way Chobe Bush Lodge provides huge, modern suites in a smart, African-themed hotelodge - let’s stick with that - on the outskirts of Kasane, five minutes from the entrance to Botswana’s famous Chobe National Park.
The main living area is a hall-like, open-fronted thatch behemoth facing a swimming pool water feature. You can dine inside or out from the a la carte menu or, if you prefer a more lively venue, pop across the road to Chobe Safari Lodge, big cousin of the Bush Lodge, for a big fat buffet dinner overlooking the eponymous river.
Accommodation is in double-storey wings connected to the lodge by wooden walkways. Inside, the rooms are huge - if a little somber in their slate-grey and IBM-brown palette - carpet-flooring, semi-open bathrooms with bath and shower and a private balcony; all rooms have air conditioning, TV and a personal safe.
With Chobe River across the road and full access to Chobe Safari Lodge amenities and activities you’ve got the full range of safari activities in this little corner of Botswana, one of the most prolific game viewing areas on the continent. Add to that Victoria Falls - one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World - about an hour’s drive away and you’ve got the makings of a fantastic African safari without the fantastic prices of an African safari.
38 en suite rooms with air conditioning, shower and bath, TV, personal safe an private balcony; family rooms have two bedrooms each with en suite bathroom; main living area with restaurant, bar, activities desk, curio shop, pool and wi-fi
Morning, full day, half day and evening shared and private game drives into Chobe National Park; Chobe River boat cruises; fishing; birding; private boat hire; scenic flights; day-trips to Victoria Falls; village walks
Note: All activities are extra and run from the sister lodge Chobe Safari Lodge across the road and booking is essential.
